Mott the Hoople tient son nom de Norman Mott dans la nouvelle" Mott The Hoople " par Willard Manus

"Ian: He was a character in a book by Willard Manus. He wrote a book called Mott the Hoople. It was about a guy name Norman Mott. A hoople is a hobo. Every chapter was Mott the this or Mott the that. One chapter was Mott the Hoople. Guy Stevens, Mott’s original manager, was in jail and the book was in the prison library. He gave it to a junkie and the guy died. He was telling us about it and we told him that we had to have that name but he wouldn’t give it to us because the guy had died and he thought it had a bad vibe – it was 1969, after all. We said “Fuck the vibe, it’s a great name.” It really took him a while to come around.
